threads on the newer jw face of public "witnessing" have shared in common the astonishment that jws safely park themselves behind their literature trolleys and exercise incredibly little contact with passersby.
whether the poster is talking about europe or the united states or australia, descriptions here are the same.. literature stands are protective sheilds behind which jws huddle, talking to each other, sipping on their espressos, whilst the disinterested world passes by.
neither the jws nor the passersby catch each others eyes.

I am thinking of taking them a couple of Arizona Iced Teas or something,
on the next hot day. It's in the direct sunlight where they are set
up, and why not be nice? Show them that an exJW, disfellowshipped
person can be happy and caring.
I dunno, maybe I'm getting soft in my old age.
You are more human and show more compassion than they do, show them the kindness that a true Christian should show.

i received an email from one of the elder in the local congregation.
i am not dfed so there is not a problem there, i am just an aggressive fader.. one of the last things i said to this elder before i stopped all activities was that i do not agree with the borg taking all the assets from the congregations.. here is what the elder said in the email:.
"i recently saw something while looking through the jw broadcasting for the month of may and i though about you.

Now the thing is with this brother he also has this rare quality of being a shepherd and he does care for those in the congregation.
Of course I know / we all know that Lett talks a load of cods wallop. But I need some suggestions on how to answer him that might make him think about things and help him to wake up. So any useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i apologize for how rantish this is but please hear me out.
anyways i'm a 15 year old girl and i've never really wanted to be a jw.
its just never been something thats made me feel happy or loved.

Do not give up your dreams, I did to become a JW, but after 28 years I realize what a bad decision that was.

so here's a real life experience you will get a kick out of.. our kh has about 90 publishers.
typical meeting attendance during a co visit is right at 100 or so.
the rest of the time, attendance is a dismal 50-60, sometimes 70 on a good week!.
The congregation I was in before I faded, joined up with another congregation about 5 years ago due to low attendance, now the attendance is dropping dramatically in this congregation, and with officially about 100 publishers the attendance is sometimes as low as 40, but averages between 50-60.
Not in the US, but a European country.
